Jim Pignato: Aquatics Director
Jim's primary role is serving as the Aquatics Director at the Nantucket Community Pool. He served as the Head Coach of the Dolphins Swim Team from 2002 to 2016. Since 2002, the team has grown from 45 swimmers to over 150.Jim began his swimming career as a Dolphin back in 1991. He swam for Nantucket High School from 1994-1998 were he was named team captain his senior year and graduated a 6-time school record holder. Following high school, Jim attended and swam Bentley University from 1998-2002 earning a Bachelors degree in Marketing. During his time with the team, Bentley won the New England Championships in 2001 and Jim was awarded the Coach's Award in 2002. Jim has also been severing as the Head Coach of the Nantucket High School Varsity Swim & Dive Team since 2003. Jim has been awarded by the Bay Colony Conference the Boy's Coach of the Year for 2013, 2015 & 2016 and the Girl's Coach of the Year for 2015 & 2016.
Todd Bohannon: Head Coach
Todd came to the Nantucket Dolphins in 2016 to serve as head coach as well as the Assistant Aquatics Coordinator at the Nantucket Community Pool. Todd grew up on Cape Cod where he competed for the Willy's East Swim Team as well as Nauset High School. As an age group swimmer he competed in the SEMSL Swim League as well as in USS meets. In Todd's USS swimmer career he recorded a number of top 10 finishes and three event wins at the New England Age Group Championships. Todd also competed in the New England Senior Championships.
Following high school Todd attended and swam at Tufts University where he earned a Bachelors degree in Economics. Todd went on to attend Bentley University where he earned his MBA in 2016. Prior to joining the Dolphins Swim Team Todd served as a volunteer coach on the Cape at both the Age Group and High School level. He has coached a number of New England Age Group qualifiers as well as High School state finalists. In 2017 Todd was selected to be part of the coaching staff for Team New England at the Eastern Zone Age Group Championships in Richmond, VA.
Natalie Thompson: Assistant Coach (Senior Group/Junior Group)
Natalie has been with the coaching staff since 2008. She graduated from Nantucket High School in 2004 where she served as captain of the Whalers in her senior year. Natalie has held individual and relay records for both the Nantucket Whalers and Nantucket Dolphins Swim Team. Following high school she continued on to compete collegiately for Norwich University from 2004-2008 where she earned a Bachelors in Physical Education. Natalie also holds a Masters in Physical Education from Canisius College.Natalie has used her competitive swimming background as well as her knowledge of the Nantucket community to help grow and develop the Nantucket Dolphins age group program to well over 100 swimmers. Natalie is also the Asst. Coach for Nantucket High School and serves as a key bridge of our age group and high school programs.
Isabelle Roberts: Assistant Coach (Age Group / Development Group)Isabelle is currently a Senior at Nantucket High School where she is a Captain of the Whalers Swim Team. She holds multiple individual and relay records with both the Nantucket Dolphins and Whalers. In 2016 Isabelle became the first ever Nantucket swimmer to compete at the Speedo Northeast Sectionals. She has been active in the Nantucket swimming community as she has taught multiple Learn To Swim classes in addition to coaching with the Dolphins.
Jacob Aloisi: Assistant Coach (Age Group / Development Group)
Jacob Aloisi is in his fourth year coaching with the Dolphins Swim Team. He is a Senior at Nantucket High School where he is Captain of the Whalers Swim Team. In 2016, Jacob was the only individual qualifier for Nantucket High School at the Division II State Swim Meet. He has been part of the Dolphins program since 2009.
Merrill McCluskey: Assistant Coach (Age Group / Junior Group / Senior Group)
Thomas Lengyel: Assistant Coach (Development Group / Junior Group / Senior Group)
Thomas is the Associate Pastor at Summer Street Church. He has worked with children and youth for almost ten years. He has a passion for seeing kids grow up with self-confidence and a positive self-image. Thomas swam throughout his childhood, on both club teams and school teams. He also played water polo in high school. He and his wife are from San Diego, California and have been enjoying the island life since November of 2015.
Kate Olson: Assistant Coach (Development Group / Junior Group / Senior Group)
Kate grew up on the coast of New Jersey where she competitively swam from a young age. She was a member of the Driftwood Beach Club, Monmouth Barracudas, and Rumson Fair Haven High School swim teams until 2009. Kate was also on the Rumson Crew team throughout high school. Following high school, Kate made the decision to crew for Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and join the scuba diving team. She graduated from Rollins College in 2013 with a degree in Critical Media and Cultural Studies and a minor in Studio Art. Kate moved to Nantucket full time in September 2016 to work at the Nantucket New School. She has lived on Nantucket during the summers where she has been a lifeguard at Great Harbor Yacht Club since 2010. While lifeguarding, Kate also teaches private and group swim lessons. She is very excited to join the Nantucket Dolphin Swim Team as an assistant coach!
