Nantucket Dolphins Swim Team Boosters Club By-Laws
Article 1: Name
Section 1- The name will be Nantucket Dolphins Swim Team Boosters Club.
Section 2 - The word Boosters Club in the By-Laws shall mean Nantucket Dolphins Swim Team Boosters Club.
Article 2: Purpose
The purpose of the Boosters Club is to openly and actively support the Nantucket Dolphins Swim Team.
Article 3: Membership
Section 1- Membership into the Boosters Club shall be open to all parents of swim team members and all other adults interested in promoting competitive swimming on Nantucket for an annual fee of $5.00 per person.
Section 2- Members dues are to be paid at the annual meeting or at the time of joining. Membership is on an annual basis from Oct. 1st to Sept. 30th. Until dues are paid the member has no voting privileges.
Article 4: Board of Directors
Section 1 - The business and affairs of this organization shall be conducted by a Board of Directors. All Board meetings shall be open to any interested parties.
Section 2 - The Board shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer who are to attend all meetings in season
Section 3 - Term of office shall be for 1 year to begin and end at the annual meeting. Officers may serve for more than 1 year and will be elected by a majority vote of the general membership present at the annual meeting.
Section 4 - Duties of the officers:
President: The President shall be the chief executive officer of the Boosters Club. They shall perform the ordinary duties of the president and shall preside at all meetings of the Boosters Club. They shall enforce all the rules and regulations of the Boosters Club. They shall appoint all such committees as may be necessary. They shall have power to sign checks and savings withdrawals in the absence of the Treasurer.
Vice President: The Vice President shall perform the duties and have the powers of the President in the absence of the President. They shall assume the duties of the Secretary in the absence of the Secretary at meetings. They shall have power to sign checks and savings withdrawals in the absence of the Treasurer.
Secretary: The Secretary shall be the Clerk of the Boosters Club. They shall keep records of all meetings of members of the Boosters Club and shall attend to all correspondence of the Boosters Club. They shall give notice of all meetings of the Boosters Club. They shall keep correct lists of names and addresses of all members of the Boosters Club and all swim team members. They shall keep a record of all properties owned by the Boosters Club and any literature pertaining to such item if available. They shall assume duties of the President or Vice President in the absence of both the President and Vice-President. They shall have power to sign checks and savings withdrawals in the absence of the Treasurer.
Treasurer: The Treasurer of the Boosters Club shall have custody of all funds of the Boosters Club. They shall collect all dues for membership and any and all payments to which the Boosters Club may be entitled. They shall pay all debts of the Boosters Club. They shall keep accurate records of all receipts and disbursements and shall report at the meetings of the Boosters Club and at such other times as may be requested by the President. They will have the power to sign checks and make savings withdrawals. They shall prepare the books for yearly audits and review by members.
Past President: If present, acts as an advisor to the board.
Article 5: Meetings
Section 1- The annual meeting will be the first meeting in October. Election of officers will be held at this meeting.
Section 2- Regular meetings will be held the first and third Wednesday of every month September through March. Meeting time will be determined at the annual meeting after the election of new officers of the organization.
Section 3 - Emergency meetings may be called by the Board between monthly meetings and will be posted, if possible, on the Team Bulletin Board.
Section 4- The officers will not vote or approve any expenditure over $500.00 without permission of the general membership. Any expenditure over $500.00 may be tabled until the next regular meeting for consideration by the membership whenever requested by any single member present.
Section 5 - A general meeting will be held as per Article 5, Section 2. The Board of Directors may meet more frequently if needed.
Section 6- All meetings will be conducted under Robert's Rules.
Article 6: Quorum
A quorum shall consist of at least 3 Board members and at least 5 paid members of the Boosters Club.
Section 1- If a quorum is not present a meeting may be held but no expenditures or policy changes may be voted upon.
Article 7: Amendments
Changes to these By-Laws shall become effective when duly passed by 2/3 vote of the general membership present at the annual meeting of the Boosters Club.
Section 1- The Club By-laws shall be reviewed annually.
Article 8: Committees
The following committees shall be formed:
- Nominating Committee- This committee will be appointed by the President at the September meeting and they will report back all candidates for elected officer positions of the Boosters Club at the annual meeting in October.
- Fund Raising Committee
- By-Law Committee
- Novelties/Concession Committee
- Program Committee
- Chaperone Committee
- USS Swimming/Non-League Specialty Meets
Article 9: Dissolution
In case of dissolution of the Boosters Club all properties and monies shall revert back to the Nantucket Community School Pool Swim Team Program.
